June 14, 2007 -- The DISCUS program is excited to announce our participation in the Summer Institutes sponsored by the Teaching American History in South Carolina (TAHSC) project. The Summer Institutes provide a range of professional development opportunities for South Carolina teachers, giving them the tools they need to make history more engaging for their students. Representing the South Carolina State Library as a cultural institution that can assist teachers in doing primary source research to create original lesson plans, DISCUS will deliver a presentation at each of the three institute sessions to be held this summer. These presentations will explore the many resources for historical research that are available through DISCUS. |
The theme for the February 2012 recognition of Black History Month is “Black Women in American Culture and History.”
